FAQs
Is virtual sex therapy effective?
Yes- for many it can be just as effective as in-person sex therapy. It can often help clients feel more at ease to talk from the comfort of their own home. However, some prefer in-person sessions! There is no right or wrong or more or less effective, there is only whatever feels best for you!
By winter 2026 I hope to offer an in-person office in Ottawa, ON so there will be more options for you as a client to see if your personal preference is in-person or virtual sex therapy.
Is counselling private if I live in Ottawa, what if I run into someone I know?
Your privacy is taken very seriously. Your sessions are confidential and protected by professional ethical and legal standards. Nothing is shared without your consent, except in rare circumstances where there is a legal duty to report for safety reasons.
In a city like Ottawa, it is also very understandable to feel concerned about privacy or the possibility of running into someone you know—whether that’s outside a clinic or in a waiting area. For this reason, virtual counselling is always available and can offer an added sense of discretion and comfort.
As your clinician, I also maintain strict professional boundaries outside of sessions. I will never initiate contact with you in public, and if we happen to cross paths, I will always respect your privacy and discretion.
Do I need to be in a relationship to attend sex therapy in Ottawa?
No. Sex therapy is for individuals and couples. Many people seek support on their own to better understand their sexuality, reduce shame or anxiety, or work through past experiences that are impacting intimacy and relationships.
